I passed through dramatic series of incidents. I tried to travel legally as you know, when I got rejected by the British embassy for reasons till now I can’t understand. So, I decided to take the risk and make it illegally, even though it’s not from my life principles to do anything against any law, but you know fear and violence make man someone else who might do things he is not used to do.

I went to Turkey where I was shocked by the number of people who are intending to do it. I was shocked by the quality of those people, 90 % of them are scum of the scum. They were deeply religious and fundamental, briefly, not kind of people whom I may enjoy with. Anyway, I said I have a dream and I should achieve it whatever costs. I went on, to be an easy bite for the Turkish smugglers who will take my money and throw me into the Mediterranean. Of course, I didn’t tell any of the co-migrants that I am alawite, I didn’t dare to open any discussion with them because I know the consequences, they will chop my head and throw my body as a fish bites. I went on and said i I will not them block achieving my dream.

After many secret calls with the smuggler who is a piece of shit and you will give him money and he will control your destiny. He gave us an appointment at some square in Azmir Turkey. We went there , and found a taxi waiting for us, then put us in different part of the city, another Taxi came to take us into no man’s land in a jungle. There was a guy waiting for us who seemed to be more aggressive than the other guys who brought us here. It was 10 am and we waited till 3 pm, in no man’s land .. no water no food and most importantly no least knowledge of what or where we’re going. At 3 pm a mini van came .. and we were about 48 guys who were all forced to get into the closed mini van under the burning sun, inside it, we were sweating and loosing any remaining hope to stay alive, and he ordered us that we should not make any noise not to be caught by the Turkish Ganderma or police. I could find a loosed screw in its hot metal walls and put my nose beside it to breath. We were very thirsty. And I started to loose the ability of standing because of the health condition that I have ,which doesn’t allow me to stand more than 30 minutes, but we had to stand for 3 hours in this burning hell . Some people were standing next to me threw up heavily on me ,and I have to remain sane because I have to keep myself alive. There was a guy who was begging for a drop of water, then he fell motionless, but no one cares for a man’s life, it is only a number and he is dead anyway where he came from.

No. Ha fatto ritorno in Siria.

We arrived in another jungle, then we had to walk for about 2 hours in the dark . Finally we arrived in a shore where two armed men were waiting for us, they agressively ordered us to bent and wait, and we waited for 2 hours in the woods next to the shore. At that time all what I want is just a few drops of water which was not existed there. At 12:30 am , a guy came and ordered us to move towards the shore, he was Turkish and speaks only Turkish. He had shallow eyes, eyes never knew any mercy, due to my knees, I was a bit slow, so he hit me on my head and shouted to move quickly. I tried to explain to him that I have problem in my knees, he hit me again and shouted loudly. I had no choice, I have only one way, I I had to endure to get to Europe where people don’t shout. They started to blow the plum, which was very small to take 46 people and their luggage, we got into the plum, and the sailor was only a guy from the group who has no experience. They showed us some lights far away and told us drive there it’s Greece. The weather was windy, and the sea was wavy.. but they said it’s only here, when we go deeper, there are no waves.. We sailed our lives which had been sold a long time ago. Then the sea became more angry, and the waves became more bigger and wilder, and the fuel tank poured inside the plum, and the Greek lights are still far away.. I will tell you what happened next.. but my phone is out of charge soon and I have no power supply.. but as a conclusion.. Now I am in Syria again.. with serious burns in my legs.. exactly under the past surgery scar to my feet.

The whole world doesn’t give a shit for me or billions like me, what matters are money and corporations. I told you that because I, from the bottom of my heart, do know that you care, not because you are Western, but because you are my friend whom I am free to tell her everything and I know that I have ears. But let me continue the moment when we got into the plum. The driver as I said, was one of the group who will not pay for the ride because smugglers don’t show up, and don’t risk their lives. The plum took off in the dark Mediterranean which was very angry and wavy, the people in the plum were saying verses from Quraan and in my heart I was thinking of how Europe will cope with such people who are deeply religious and not necessarily moral or ethical. Then we got a huge wave which made the boat rambling, it was the first time at that night I could taste the salty water which was mingled by the taste of rotten bodies of people like me who had been taken by the sea in their search for a better life. The smuggler, before he went, told the plum driver that those far lights over there are Greece, and we were sailing for more than one hour, and the far lights. .are still far. The fuel tank poured inside the plum, and I was sitting beside it. I was covered by benzene and salt water, I could feel my flesh burning, but what can I do! ! ! I kept looking at the far lights, but they were still far.. Waves became bigger and fiercer, and the chemical burns on my legs became more and more painful, there was a guy next to me who had the same burns and didn’t stop crying, suddenly he threw himself in the water, at that moment, I figured out that death is very close to me. The water filled the plum, and the guys ordered me to throw my bag, I threw it without any hesitation cause I knew that I will NEVER EVER use it again, I put in it all what values in my life, being emotional or material, but why not! !! In minutes I will be just like it, lost in the dark water. Then a fight happened between people who want the driver to go on, and others who want him to get back to the Turkish shore, at that time, I started to loose my body temperature, no food, no water, for more than 18 hours and most importantly no hope. I put my head down, and started to cry silently and imagine how my mom and dad will receive the tragic loss of their son. The water reached to my chest, and the waves were striking me on my back.

I cried and laughed for such “one short life” a man has. I said is that all?? That’s it?? Is that the end?? And the dreams, hopes, ambitions, and fighting for better life will end here, in the dark sea.

In these moments, time was about 3 am and we had been in water for approximately 3 hours. The driver took the decision to get back to the Turkish shore which was distinguished by red lights from air fans of power generation. In my upper body I felt so cold, and in my lower body it was a burning fire eating my legs from the benzene and salt chemical burns. I hugged the guy next to me to feel warm, and was waiting to the destiny. I was consoling myself by this end, and say it’s OK, it’s time to end this miserable life, and at the end of this day, all my fears will go, all my pains will stop, so please death take what you want peacefully and I will be OK.

siria racconto viaggio migrante - 3

I was waiting to the moment in which the plum turns over and all jump into water just to relieve the pain of my legs. Then a wave slapped me, and I felt colder, water got into my ears, and I couldn’t hear what people saying, and started to loose my conscious holding the guy who was next to me. Then I found myself on a cliff and this guy was shaking me and telling me wake up we could reach the Turkish shore again, and spoke to his friends and said : I told you he is not dead. It was 4 am which means 4 hours of sailing. You know because of the car crash I had 9 months ago I can’t climb cliffs, adding second grade burns in my both legs, but I could endure the pain and the limited range of motion and did climb the cliff to walk with the others. We walked in the no man’s land of forests for 9 hours, and my burns became worse, some of the guys were very helpful and others were threatening me to abandon me if I don’t move quickly.

I lost everything and won a second chance in life which is something valuable. I came back to Syria, because I put my passport in a balloon in my pocket before the trip, to be used as ID in case I died or they found my body. I got out of the hospital, still have pains, but still have pain killers from the car crash 🙂 I am still sane after all that.. And will never repeat the sea way NEVER EVER. If I have to go, I will make it legally..
